Welcome to Lubbock Lights. We provide Lubbock and communities across the South Plains with important local information, useful reporting, and compelling stories. We focus especially on stories that may receive limited coverage elsewhere or that other local media organizations may no longer have the resources to pursue.

Accuracy is central to our work. We make reasonable efforts to verify names, dates, statistics, quotations, documents, and other factual information before publication.

Our journalists and editors rely on credible sources, including official records, government agencies, court documents, public meetings, direct interviews, subject-matter experts, and reputable news organizations.

When a story involves competing claims or viewpoints, we seek relevant perspectives and provide appropriate context. News reporting, analysis, commentary, and opinion content are clearly distinguished whenever necessary.

Fairness and Context

Lubbock Lights strives to report stories fairly and without misleading omissions. Individuals, businesses, public officials, and organizations facing significant allegations should be given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication whenever circumstances allow.

We avoid presenting rumors, speculation, or unverified social media claims as established facts. Headlines, photographs, captions, and social media posts should accurately represent the substance of the reporting and should not exaggerate or distort a story merely to attract attention.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are made independently and are not controlled by advertisers, sponsors, political organizations, government agencies, business partners, or outside interest groups.

Advertising relationships do not guarantee favorable coverage or prevent critical reporting. Sponsored, promotional, or paid content will be clearly identified so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage.

Sources and Attribution

We identify sources whenever possible so readers can evaluate the credibility of the information presented. Information obtained from other publications, public records, research, photographs, or external materials must be properly credited.

Anonymous sources may be used when the information serves a legitimate public interest and the source could reasonably face retaliation, professional harm, or another serious consequence for speaking publicly. Originality and Copyright

Lubbock Lights respects the intellectual property and creative work of others. We do not knowingly publish plagiarized content.

Material from another source must be appropriately attributed. Quotations should be limited to what is reasonably necessary for reporting, commentary, or explanation. Photographs, videos, graphics, and other media should be original, properly licensed, used with permission, or otherwise legally permitted.

We take responsibility for our work. When we discover a significant factual error, we will correct it as promptly and transparently as reasonably possible.

Material updates or corrections may be noted within the article so readers understand what changed. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or style corrections may be made without an editor’s note when they do not alter the meaning of the story.
